Catholic School Accreditation

… a process for determining the quality of a school’s overall Catholic Identity and educational program.

The Catholic school examines itself in order to understand what is working well for the total school community and
what it needs to do better to meet the learning needs of the students and to ensure long-term viability and vitality.

MISSION

The mission of the Western Catholic Educational Association is to advance quality Catholic education for all students in member schools and arch/dioceses through an accrediting process that promotes the primacy of faith formation, the rigor of educational excellence, and the vitality that comes through continuous school improvement.

VISION

WCEA will be the premiere Catholic accreditation agency, inspiring excellence in Catholic education.

OUR STORY

WCEA was originally formed in California under the auspices of the Bishops of the Catholic Arch/Dioceses of California. Although the membership now includes Catholic Arch/Dioceses in ten other states and Guam, the Bishops of the Catholic Arch/Diocese of California retain reserved powers as the Members of the Corporation and appoint one of their member Bishops to serve as the WCEA President.
